First Place Winner in Best Web Site Contest

A First Place Award was presented to Amador Computer User Group (ACUG) Webmaster Barbara Kreiss for Best Small Group Web Site by the Association of PC Users Groups on January 3rd, 2006 during their annual conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The three-time award-winning web site is developed and maintained by Webcentric Computer Services of Pine Grove, California.

The Amador Computer Users Group (ACUG), a non-profit group, holds its free monthly meetings at 7PM on the first Tuesday of every month at the Senior Center in Jackson and is dedicated to helping members of the community learn more about computers and software. ACUG accepts old computer equipment from the public, restores and updates that equipment and donates them back to other non-profit organizations, such as WEAVE, the Agency on Ageing Area 12 and the Jackson Senior Center. ACUG is an active member of the Association of PC Users Group (APCUG), an International organization of computer user groups. For more information, see their award winning web site: http://www.acug.net

"Websites are an organization's 'Window to the World' and we feel that Webcentric Computer Services makes an extremely important contribution to the Amador Computer User's Group’s advertising effort" stated Dave Butow, PR Director for the ACUG. "The APCUG has once again recognized the top quality of our Web site with a First Place Award and it is more than well deserved."

Barbara Kreiss, owner of Webcentric Computer Services, (www.web-centric.net), is a long time sponsor of the local user group and has held many volunteer positions within the club such as Director, Webmaster, and Contributing Editor. She was ACUG's Program Director from 1996 through 2000, and has been ACUG's Microsoft liaison and a member and sponsor of ACUG since the inception of the club in December of 1994. She was pleased to receive the award:

"We are thrilled to win the Best Web Site contest for a third year" Barbara said. "We feel proud and privileged to have worked with a great bunch of people and contributed to the club's success over the years. As Webmaster, and also having held the Program Director position in the past, I have talked to representatives for vendors such as Microsoft, and they all felt that ACUG was one of the top computer user groups in Northern California".

The Association of PC User Groups is an International Personal Computer User Group organization, with over 320 member groups from Australia, Canada, and the U.S.  During the week of January 2nd, 2006,  the APCUG  2006 Annual Conference was held at the Stardust Resort and Casino in conjunction with the 2006 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Web Site Awards ceremony was held in the Avalon Ballroom of the resort hotel. David Steward, Charlotte Semple, Board of Advisors Members and Judy Taylour, BOA Chair of the APCUG, presented the awards.
